Leather is one of the oldest natural materials, used by most of the civilisations that have inhabited the earth. From its humble beginnings, as a personal protection from the elements, leather became a symbol of luxury. It is a versatile material with many practical benefits that derive from its natural qualities - durability, hardwearing, suppleness and attractive colour and surface treatments.

It goes without saying that no two pieces of leather are ever the same. So each piece will gain its own rich patina as it is used, cleaned and fed with wax. The deep lustre that is created, through long use, only serves to increase the attraction of this natural and characterful covering.

As there are many grades of leather our quality leather flooring should, materially, not be confused with thin, surface sprayed leathers used in the manufacture of sofas. At Harcourt we use only the best quality hides from sustainable, repeatable sources because our clients value long term relationships with us. Our sources afford us the opportunity to make additions, in later years, that will blend and complement our clients earlier projects.
